His Eminence Kyabje Khyungser Trichen Rinpoche

Shangri-la Tulku Kyabje Khyungser Trichen Rinpoche is the recognized reincarnation of His Holiness Dharma King Trichen Gendun Tsultrim, the 65th Ganden Tripa.

The Ganden Tripa is the supreme spiritual Head of the holy Gelug Lineage which is the best known and biggest of the four schools of Tibetan Buddhism. His Holiness the Dalai Lama and H.H the Panchen Lama are the most prominent figures in the Gelugpa school.

His Eminence is one of the Throneholders of Ganden Monastery.

As a Tulku, a reincarnated Master and Spiritual Leader from Shangri-la (Gyalthang), Khyungser Trichen Rinpoche is also often referred to as the Shangri-la Tulku.

Nestles on a hill few kilometres away from the County of Shangri-la lies
Ganden Sumtseling Monastery. It belongs to the Gelugpa School of Tibetan Buddhism and was established by the the Great Fifth Dalai Lama. Ganden Sumtseling is the largest and most important monastery in Yunnan. It once housed about two thousand monks.
